Welcome to Applied Technology - is a year long course designed to introduce students to basic computer concepts as defined in the California State Standards.

The students will learn how the computer operates, become familiar with basic computer vocabulary, develop extensive keyboarding skills, internet research skills, and participate in activities involving computer applications such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Photoshop Elements, Google Drive (Google Doc, Google Form, Google Drawing, Google Presentation, Google Spreadsheet etc.), Web 2.0 apps (like Prezi and Powtoon), Notepad, WYSIWYG Editors like Dreamweaver and Weebly, and much more.

Materials: All textbooks and skill-building software will be provided to each student for use in the classroom only. It will not be necessary for students to take these materials home.

Students are expected to bring standard 3-hole punch paper and a sharpened pencil everyday to class. (Spiral bound notebook paper will NOT be accepted)

Students can choose to use the free file folder given in class to store their printed work. Otherwise students will need to bring their own folders to store their work.

Please do not toss away any class work until the school year has ended.

Attendance for this computer class EXTREMELY important!!! Since most assignments are completed in the classroom it is important that I attend class. If I am absent 12 days or more per semester, I can receive a failing grade for Mrs. Chang's Computer Class. (If a student makes up his/her work after an absence they will NOT receive a failing grade.) I also understand that the school tardy policy is strictly enforced. In addition, I understand that 3 tardies equals 1 absence (excused or unexcused) and that it can affect my class performance and thus lower my grade.

Grades: will be based on the following: daily assignments, quizzes, projects, homework, and tests. If you have an excused absence, make-up work and tests will be due in the same number of days you were absent. Late work deadline is the Friday before the end of the quarter and/or semester.
